I'm fine with that, since that is actually the server that the people in beta currently discuss as a candidate for the 'international' server.

I'll update the OT when there's more 'actual situation' info out.

thankfully this time around you don't have to pay extra for every char so several servers can be tested :D

So I decided to try it out during this open beta. I've been playing a conjurer and haven't got very far in yet. Its really odd being back to quest text again particularly when they move their mouths and no sound comes out. I'm not sure if I like it yet I liked the customization for the characters and they do have area events happening like in warhammer though they weren't as well done. I'll probably start fresh during early access and see how things go.

My wife and I are both looking forward to this game, we both played FFXI and had FFXIV at launch. I don't think we're gonna jump straight in at launch this time, might wait til around Xmas to get the game.

I also just got a Beta invite to elder scrolls online, so I wanna check that out as well.

I've tried to create a character on either of those two servers and as you say you can't as they are both closed for character creation. They are both marked as legacy servers too so I guess that will remain that way for some time.

no no. legacy just means that legacy players are restricted to those. lol. I created a new char on Ragnarok

either way, I will more than likely stick to Balmung (and Ragnarok depending on time) since Balmung is the most 'international' server. it's basically where all the cool kids will be going.

I also have a char on Shiva (EU) and Carbuncle (JP) though.



edit: yesterday I was able to create a char on Ragnarok at roughly 11:30 pm GMT and at that time .every. NA server was closed for creation... lol

You know you could try settling with just one server :p

I'm definitely not going to be spending a ton of time playing but so I'll probably be sticking with one character. I'll keep trying to get one on Balmung.

checked and just after writing this I was able to create a character on Balmung

I played FFXIV last night for about 20 mins before falling asleep. I had a legacy character 17 marauder on Excalibur.

My overwhelming feeling in that very short play test was that this game is FFXI mashed together with WoW and a little slice of Rift in the form of the FATE encounters.

I was overall not super impressed. My wife is still going to play it I think, but I'm not sure I like it enough to split time between SWTOR and FFXIV.

I had very high hopes for that game leading into it's first launch. I don't think I've fully forgiven Squenix yet, so my opinion might be skewed.
