I made a vid today to show Cim how it looks. Guessed I'd just let everyone know.

Cool
I used to be an entertainer in SWG and loved playing all the instruments, using the droids special effects and making the flourishes. Is that a new class for LOTRO or always been there?

It's not a class it's just an special type of /emote you can do in the game. You can use several different types of instruments and each one has it's own unique sound. It uses the full scale, so you have a key that corresponds to C through B including all of the sharps and flats.
You can also convert a midi into an ABC file so that it will play what ever song you have converted into ABC format in game. Thus for those people that are less musically challenged they can still "play" music in game.
The real amazing thing about this system is when you get 4-5 people together all playing different instruments and have a band jam session. Some of these "bands" are actually pretty amazing, and some are less so lol. Here's an example video they are pretty easy to goggle and find.

oh yes this is very popular on roleplaying servers like i use to play on. there were many kinships (guilds) that would get together and have a concert and competitions to see which "band" was better and some of them were VERY VERY good with up to i think 20 players at one time all playing the same song almost perfectly was very impressive

Honestly this is one of those little quirky systems that other games should really copy. But it is overlooked and ignored by most dev's.

Exactly. And I don't really know why. The idea is awesome and it works.

That would be awesome in TOR.
Imagine groups of poeple everywhere playing the star-wars theme tune, or "that cantina" song.
Even better you could troll people by playing Rick Astley when you gank them.
Right, seems one of us is going to make to start a petition on TOR website to make this happen.
