Well why bother making AC then? Why not just make almost all Paladins.

Ok, let me try this:

First: I'm a Tank, and I will use the Shield Specialist skill tree. This will be my primary build and focus upon release. Focus meaning that I will work on collecting the tank gear, accolades and tank skills that will help me become a strong and enduring tank for guild activities and missions. In this respect, the guild would consider me a professional tank...it will be my renowned specialty.

Second: Once BW decides to introduce 'duel specing', which will be after launch, I am thinking of picking the healz talent tree.

Just to be crystal clear: Duel specing does not equal hybrid or a 'Pally' type of build. It means that you will have 2 distinct and separate talent trees in which to choose from.

For example: You may be out questing as an individual and you're in a DPS skill set and enjoying your god like powers and simply blowing mobs into smithereens. Let's say you're an Assault Commando for instance. Your DPS skill tree helps you to quickly 'burn' mobs before they burn you.

I pm you in game and invite you to join a mission in which we need a tank, I know you're the best damn tank on the server, because that's what you're known for.

You say 'Sure!, I just need to 'switch over' and then I'll join you.' You then activate your tank tree, which is in no way 'shared' with or 'borrowed' from your DPS tree. With your tank tree now activated, it now helps you to attract and hold aggro. Your DPS abilities are no more at this point, and DPS is no longer your specialty. You'd also switch into gear designed to absorb punishment where your DPS gear helped you do other things like move faster, or increased your aim, etc.

Duel specing allows you to eventually master two separate skills, but it takes a long time because you have to collect two distinct sets of gear and abilities, which is part of the point I'm attempting to make. Duel specing has several advantages, but specifically for 'end game' players, it allows enjoyment of fresh perspectives and responsibilities on existing dungeons and group quests without having to reroll a new character.

Hopefully this helps.

I think that Kryad knows exactly what you are saying, but if you are able to change AC on dual spec than both Trooper and JC are changing into paladin like class, who can tank or heal depending on need Happy

This would beat the idea of AC imo...

re: Whats your skill tree [Troopers]

I chose Shield Specialist. However, this is not set in stone and I may choose to go a different route when the game actually comes out.

BTW, with the new patch they tweaked the skills and added some. Who knows they may continue to do that all the way up to launch. So by that time I might prefer another skill tree.

Ok guys, stop :P

You are both right at this point.

@Landscaper: It would be cool to be able to switch between Tank and Healer, I loved that in my Druid in WoW, but in TOR this would beat the purpose of creating Advance Classes. They were made so that you can perform max 2 roles in party, either Heal/DPS or Tank/DPS. If they would allow Dual Spec that allows you to change AC, that than Troopers/Jedi Consulars/Bounty Hunters/Sith Inquisitors would become Paladin/Druid comparable classes since they would be able to switch between two most vital roles in trinity.

@Kryad: Yes you are right, it would be like Paladin/Druid... still would be kind of cool for me ^_^

Finally someone clarified it for you two... tongue out I rather didn't post anything, because I was sure I'd write it in a way that would make one, or both, very upset >.<
