re: Draelenn - our new member!

The application submitted by Draelenn is as follows:

Quote:
***Please look over this >>>> thread <<<< before starting your application.*** Before we get started, did you read the "How to Join PR thread" (linked above), and do you understand our application/Trial system? (It is mandatory to do so to be accepted!): Yes Age?: 34 Gender: Male Where are you from?: I've lived all over but currently hail from Georgia, USA (EST). What is your main character's in-game name?: Draelenn Brand Which is the AC for your main character?: Sentinel What level is your main character at this time?: 50 What interests and activities do you enjoy spending your time on both in and out of game?: I'm a huge sci-fi fan, but that seems a given in light of this being a SW game. Recently, I have been reading a lot of books by Michael Connelly, who writes the eponymous Bosch character on which the Amazon show is based. It's like a modern noir series, and I love old noir Bogey type films. Same author also wrote the Lincoln Lawyer. I enjoy watching college football, and I like walking my dogs. I also enjoy playing other games, though SWTOR is presently my only MMO. I love Fallout and pre-registered for 4. How did you hear about Pax Republica?: Jeronimop, a current member, is my old roomie from grad school. He recommended you guys, and his word goes a long way with me. What was it about Pax Republica that encouraged you to sign up with us, rather than with another guild?: My friend, who is Jeronimop on here, is a member. He endorsed Pax Republica, and his endorsement really says a lot about your guild - all of it good. He and I usually agree on things, and so I trust his judgment. Additionally, I like the name - like Pax Romana. Very appropriate for a Republic Guild. The charter seemed in-line with what I expect of guildies too. Do you consider yourself a hardcore player, casual player, or somewhere in-between?: I really don't have a consistent answer because I have a demanding job. I would prefer to be hardcore, but life only allows me to be casual most of the time. On the other hand, when I get some time, I tend to SWTOR binge, so I guess that averages to "somewhere in between." Are you currently a member of any SWTOR Republic guild? You can not join us if you're in another Republic guild.: No If so, which guild, and which faction? : I used to be a member of Stay Classy (along with Jeronimop) on a different server. I stopped playing for a while due partly to frustrations with EA and partly because our guild died down a while back. They were great folks, but the guild moved on to other games, etc. Jeronimop told me recently that SWTOR had come a long way since then, and he found that a new server (Ebon Hawk) really was working better for him too. At his recommendation, I came back to give it a try a few weeks ago, and I quickly realized he was right on both counts. I transferred all my toons to Ebon Hawk. Have you ever been kicked from a guild for poor conduct, unruly behavior, or inactivity?: Nope. And I never will be kicker for those reasons b/c that just ain't how I roll... Which of the following interests you most?: Story Which of the following interests you second most?: PvE Which of the following interests you third most?: Socializing When you've been in a guild a long time, do you usually stay a regular member, or do you end up in/aspire to be in a leadership position?: Regular Member The following questions are to provide you with a quick insight regarding the trial requirements. Do you acknowledge that activity is key to our community and that failure to contribute to the community(every week unless on leave of absence) could result in possible removal from the guild?: Yes Do you promise to act with maturity, friendliness and courtesy towards all Pax Republica Members... and other SWTOR players?: Yes Do you acknowledge that you must complete all the trial requirements given to you by the Pax Republica Officers to become a full member?: Yes True or False: You will re-visit the forums often over the next two weeks as you go through the Trials.: True Is there anything else you would like to include as to why we should accept you as an applicant to Pax Republica?: I'm fun at parties. Seriously, though, I'm a pretty easy-goin' guy. I have a job and family, so I'm not online as often as some, but I do like to play. So long as people are cool to me, they will get the same from me. Mean people suck. Therefore, I try hard to avoid being mean. I like to laugh, and I like to make others laugh - just not at anyone else's expense. Are there any questions about the guild you would like answered?: Is it okay if I just want to be rank and file? I love the sense of community and cooperation that a guild offers in-game, but I have little interest in being a leader. It's not that I think I'd be a bad leader, but I just don't have that desire/demeanor. A lot of guilds pressure upward movement/promotions, and you guys don't seem like that, but I thought I'd better ask to be sure (especially in light of the question on this above in the app). I'm willing to contribute, but if it's okay, then I'd rather contribute as a grunt than as an officer. Besides, in my experience, there often "too many chiefs and not enough Indians" in guilds as it is. Once again to ensure you know how things work: "I read the "How to Join PR thread" (linked above), and I understand Pax's application/Trial system, activity rules, etc.": True

I am responding to my own application in an effort to show some activity ... and to prove I checked back of course ;)

re: Draelenn - our new member!

Wow, now that's a tactic I have not yet seen!  I feel like Draelenn "gets" this system.  If more applicants came back a few hours or whatever after their app and posted in it before anyone else did it... I'm very cool with that!  1.5 hours whatever for Draelenn.

The other good news is that you are a trusted friend of a current guild member, so you'll be given a special "Friend of the guild" trial status :)

I look forward to talking with you!  Good luck

re: Draelenn - our new member!

Welcome back to Pax Republica, seasoned veteran/referred member!

During this re-enrollment process you will be asked to complete the following tasks, to get you back on all the appropriate lists and confirm that you still wish to abide by our Charter.  Upon completion of these tasks, you will officially be considered a full member once again, and you will be given a rank determined by the officer staff.

Complete √ 1. Update your profile here at Pax Republica with a forum Avatar. ***NOTE***- Your avatar cannot be one of the generic default avatars that GuildLaunch gives you. It should be something unique so that it's easier to associate your name with some kind of image, this allows us to get to know you better.

 2. Make an introductory post in your specified class forum provided below. Please use it as a chance to introduce yourself to the family, as this is a more permanent area for people to get to know you (your own "personal area" on the forums, if you will) than your application thread.

Trooper Barracks - Smuggler Cantina - Consular Library - Knight Praxeum

Complete √ 3. Either your Guild Launch user name should be your "main" character name in SWTOR, or you should link your main character to your GL account. Here's how to do the latter:

  •  Go to User Profile (Your name) at the top right of the forums.
  •  Under Characters tab, go to Add Character, make sure you choose ToR for your game and The Galactic Republic as your faction. Create the name as your main character's name in SWTOR!
  •  Now that your character has been created, go to the Sites tab under User Profile.
  •  Under Forum Posting As Settings select your character and click Set Character to Post As.
  •  Finished!

 4. Go over our Charter (our Rules and Regulations document) and be sure to post that you accept it. Please read it carefully BEFORE accepting. Click here.

5. Log on to SWTOR and whisper anyone of rank Justicar or above with your in-game name so we can add you to the guild. (VETERANS:  Ask to have your rank returned to Legionnaire).  For a list of our rank structure and names of officers, please Click here.

Welcome home!  We of Pax Republica salute you, our prodigal comrade in arms!

re: Draelenn - our new member!

First - thanks Nwahs!  Second, my first post after the application was almost just "first," lol, but this isn't GameFaqs...

Okay - so I did #4.  Also, re #2, I did separate posts for my sentinel, Draelenn Brand, and my trooper, TacoHell Brand (50 and 49, respectively).

I should be online this weekend or even tonight after work if my wife's friend continues to distract her...  Really close to hitting 50 with the trooper.

Of course - I'm here to chat, etc. if anyone has questions!

re: Draelenn - our new member!

Thanks Tiffs - and thanks for handling my in-game invite.  Sorry if I distracted you from the Op!  sounded like you guys were handling it well, though, and without the screaming at each other I've seen in past raids, which was definitely nice.

re: Draelenn - our new member!

Yes sir!

All the foregoing steps have been taken except that, technically, I think Tiffs may have approached me before I approached her concerning step 5 (joining in-game), but I figured it was probably the communication that mattered more than the order of same.

Also, Jeronimo and I did various conquest goals over the weekend, and so he invited one of my alts.  He also helped me with getting on teamsspeak.

re: Draelenn - our new member!

"Full Peacekeeper?"  That sounds like an awesome Farscape reference - as in, I always wanted to go the full peacekeeper with Claudia Black.

On a more serious note, thanks for all the many warm welcomes.  I look forward to seeing y'all in-game.  Please be aware that I do login at work sometimes to run crafting missions and don't watch the chat window, so if you whisper me and don't get a response - I promise I am not ignoring you ;)
