In that same vein, I'm wondering what types of monitors ya'll are using. My old 27" Samsung 1080p monitor bit the bullet, and I'm in the market. If anyone uses a 4k or 1440p monitor, I'm especially curious about that.
As for my rig, it's aging but holding strong:
i5 2500k (not yet OC'd) on a Asus Z68 Deluxe board
16gb corsair ram
MSI Golding Gaming GTX 970
EVGA 1200 watt PSU for MOAR POWA!

I've had the same system for 4 years now and still running strong.
i5 2500k
8gb ram
geforce 550ti (used to be a 680 but I sold it during a gaming slump and now I wish I didn't)
I used to have 2 monitors, an HP 27" 1440p and a crappy Acer 23" 1080p but the 27" fried recently and I've been too lazy to replace it so I've been *gag* solo monitoring for the last 2 months. I dearly miss having dual monitors so I really need to become un-lazy and get a new one. Nowdays I could get a pair (or borderline 3) of 1440p monitors for the price I paid for my old one 4 years ago.

Mine is about a year old and put together on a tighter budget then I would have liked, but haven't had any issues with it. It's my first AMD machine and designed first as a home lab/dev/work environment and then for gaming. The case keeps it pretty quiet and when I actually hear the fans kick up, I know the cats have been hanging out too close to the PC and it's time to blow any dust out/clean filters/etc. :P
I plan to add another 16 GB, for virtualization, and a sound card for audio production at some point. Otherwise, I have yet to really stress the machine in my day to day use, so this should keep me for a few years with minor tweaks along the way.
Video: XFX Black Edition Double D R9-280A
Monitor: Acer G246HL 24-Inch
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P
Processor: FX-8320E FX-Series 8-Core
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl
HDDs: Crucial 240 GB SSD (OS), WD 1 TB data
PSU: Rosewill CAPSTONE Series 750W 80 Plus Gold

I've got no complaints. For my purposes, I have yet to really stress it. My uses are generally gaming, streaming media and running up to three virtual machines concurrently. I'll run more VMs once I get around to adding RAM and it is convenient that the motherboard supports 32 GB at a reasonable price. :)
I don't tend to play the "latest and greatest" games so SWTOR and ESO are probably the most demanding of what I play. Neither of them really puts any noticeable stress on the CPU so I wouldn't consider it to be a bottleneck on performance.
On the motherboard, any complaint I really have are not the fault of the motherboard. The way things are mounted in the case I have, the bottom PCIx slot is unusable. Like I said though, not the motherboard's fault and it has been fine. I've not done any overclocking, or really screwed around with the BIOS since any initial tweaking, so can't really speak to how it performs when OC'ing.

My system is 4 and a half years old (except for the recent video card upgrade) but here are the specs:
Intel i7 950 3.07 GHz
12 Gigs of RAM
MSI nVidia GTX 970
128 Gig SSD
1 TB Hard Drive
Blue Ray Player
Oh...and I just upgraded my monitor. I now am running 2 ASUS monitors...one is 144hz and I love it!
