re: HDD to smaller SSD with Win8

So I just got in game on my new computer and I love it, I forgot how awesome the game is on max settings. Now I have to get my SSD up and running. It's 250GB and I'm moving from my 500 GB HDD, so I need to partition and do stuff and technical technical technical, and I don't know what I'm doing. Has anyone done with with Windows 8?

re: HDD to smaller SSD with Win8

with SSD, you want to put your operating system and main programs on the SSD only.  Then you want to use your regular HDD or two for storage and repository of data, such as windows profile, my documents, photos, user desktop, etc.

Multiple read-write over and over can/will shorten the life of SSD so it is good to have seperate hard drives.

Use SSD for it's strengths in load times by having it only deal with installation, use, and uninstallation of programs and windows os itself.  Download folders and areas where you will repetitively write/delete/re-write you will want to have done on another hard drive.

Keep your old drive and use SSD for main programs and windows, just like Soulless said. Your going to want the space from both of your drives, so use both of them on your pc. Let me know if you have any trouble, I'd be happy to help.

Your first move, is to chuck Win8. Then you get Win7 and put it on your Computer.

What Soul said is right. You only want your OS on your SSD.

Then remove Win8 and install 7.

I don't mind Windows 8.1 myself.
