Based on reading reviews I decided to go with the 7870 over the gtx 660, but I'm not totally sure on that.

Please give me your feedback.

re: I'm looking to build a PC

I have the 7850. It's not that much different from the 7870 besides price. Mine has only 1GB of memory, but that's just what I went with. The ones with 2GB memory are now almost identical in price as the ones with 1GB of memory. And Gigabyte isn't one I'd go with.

or if you want the 7970

Other than that you look set. There are much quieter case fans than what you've got your eyes set on. But that's about it.

re: I'm looking to build a PC

The XX70 series Radeons are usually considerably faster than the XX50 counterparts, Here's the comparison from hwcompare - http://www.hwcompare.com/12187/radeon-hd-7850-vs-radeon-hd-7870/

To put it in perpective by speed alone my 6870 is marginally faster than a 7850, for total processing power the 7850 is marginally better - http://www.hwcompare.com/12078/radeon-hd-6870-vs-radeon-hd-7850/

Have to checked a calculator to make sure the 600W is enough power for that build? Newegg as a calculator on their site to figure it out with, the 7870 cards suck a lot of juice, might want to make sure you have enough there to get full performance out of all the components. If you are underpowered you could end up burning up that new card when you turn it on for the first time. It'll try to pull too hard and overheat

Yeah, the calculator said 600 watts should be fine (came out to 583w) but I think I'll upgrade to 700 watts or so for fans and such.

re: I'm looking to build a PC

There is a difference between the 7870 and 7850. But sometimes that also depends on the brand as well.

Glue, I'd recommend reading things like http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/350516-33-7850-7870 to make your decision. If I had had more $ at the time, I would have gone with the 79xx instead of the 7850. But I didn't. It's up to you. I just know that the one I have is up there and close to the 7870.
