Weekly Remembrance [Admiral Ackbar]

Greetings, everyone! I had this idea last night when I was half asleep, and I thought it may be fun. I'm going to discuss what something or someone in the Star Wars movies (possibly expanded universe) has taught me. I'd like everyone else to reflect on what this person has done for them, and post their thoughts, if they have any to contribute. Here goes!

Dear Admiral Ackbar,

I'd like to thank you for teaching me that sometimes finishing a project isn't as important as destroying it before it becomes too powerful to stop.

I'd like to thank you for teaching me that calamari can be good, even when it's not lightly battered and fried.

I'd like to thank you for teaching me that you don't need eyes in the back of your head, or even the front of your head, to be a great leader.

I'd like to thank you for teaching me that sometimes even your best defenses can't repel firepower of a certain magnitude.

I'd like to thank you for teaching me that outfitting a cruise liner with weapons and going rogue against the government is more publicly acceptable that I realized.

I'd like to thank you for teaching me that a little faith in Billy Dee Williams can go a long way. It really does "Work Every Time."

And most importantly, Admiral Ackbar, I'd like to thank you for teaching me that most situations in life are, indeed, a trap, and that I should always be wary of my surroundings.

Your trap detection ability has not only proven your race deserves a bonus to that skill in D20 roleplaying systems, but has also gotten me out of countless work meetings, conference calls, bad relationships, and drunken brawls.

For all these things, I salute you, oh fishy Master of the Stars!
