I hate to say it but I haven't yet written enough to know why I write. I used to write short stories back in high school. More recently I have written character introductions for various tabletop RPGs (that I never actually get to play :P), and with these I have glimpses in my mind of how the stories of these people will unfold down the line. Just moments, really. Snapshots and very short clips. I haven't ever fleshed one out beyond that. I think I can say without ego that I have some small talent for writing, but it's a muscle I haven't flexed often or for any significant length of time.

You should flex that muscle. I don't have a lot of talent--some, yes, but I'm no Shakespeare--but I'm getting into the biz just fine.
Speaking of which--what I fear is that it's losing its' soul, and that movies and the like are too...well, they don't have emotion anymore. Makes me think I shouldn't do movies. Maybe I shouldn't.
Did I just have a breakthrough?

Woohoo, epic bump. With a story. (some language/violence)

My first attempt at some serious writing. Read it, rate it, hit me with it. No real technique used, I just write what I think.
